On Saturday, July 20, 2013, Teterboro Airport hosted the 16th Annual PSE&G TEB 5K to benefit the Bergen County chapter of United Way. The event drew about 900 runners who were able to test their athletic skills on Runway 1-19. The race, which began at 8:30am, was on one of the hottest days of the year, with temperatures reaching well into the 80’s but feeling more like in the 90’s due to the high humidity. Meridian, the award-winning full-service private aviation company based at Teterboro Airport, was one of five airport tenants to participate in the 5K run with a team. The Team’s average time was 29:31, which placed Meridian at #3 in the Co-ed Tenant Category, behind Dassault Falcon (#1), and Avports (#2). Among the individual categories, Meridian runner David Fernandez finished #4 in his age division for males.

Money raised from the event will be used to support Bergen County’s United Way. The proceeds will provide direct services to the most vulnerable residents in the community and to develop programs and financial resources to address unmet needs. The Teterboro Airport 5K has raised more than $500,000 to help families and individuals with immediate financial assistance after natural disasters such as Hurricane Sandy, or a more personal crisis of everyday life.
