On Friday, December 19, two carloads of gifts were driven down Industrial Avenue from Meridian Teterboro to the Teterboro Airport Operations building. Meridian proudly participated in the airport’s annual holiday gift drive to support the Center for Hope and Safety, formerly known as Shelter Our Sisters. Several Meridian employees were on hand to help deliver the large boxes containing gifts for kids of all ages. The Meridian employees (Kelly Manzo, Joe Langschultz, Joy Glassman, and Kirk Stephen) were happily greeted by several Port Authority employees and a representative of the shelter. The gifts will be distributed to local families (mothers and children) who are victims of domestic violence, including emotional, economic, sexual and physical abuses. These families have fled from their dysfunctional environments and are receiving safety, strength and hope at Center for Hope and Safety.
Center for Hope and Safety is dedicated to assisting victims, and their children, of domestic violence by turning fear into safety, helplessness into strength, and isolation into hope. They are a not-for-profit agency founded in 1976. Their mission is to help victims of domestic violence to heal and grow through a wide range of services that provide the tools needed to leave the violence, and empower families for new beginnings. The shelter is located in Bergen County, New Jersey.
