Due to an ongoing increase in the number of operations at Toronto Pearson International Airport (CYYZ), along with a runway rehabilitation project, business and general aviation access to and from the airport is going to become more limited beginning the end of this month.

Initially, the airport is going to reinstitute the Airport Reservation Office (ARO) on March 26, 2017. This will mean that, during the normal operating hours of 0630 and 0029 local, all business/general aviation operators will be required to obtain arrival and departure slots at least 48 hours before their planned operations.

The slots can be obtained by calling the Greater Toronto Airports Authority (GTAA) at 416-776-SLOT (7568). The system will award slots on a first come, first served basis and reservation numbers will be provided to operators.

The new ARO requirement will not affect the Night Flight Restricted Program, which is already in effect during restricted the operating hours of 0030 until 0629 local. Operators will need to continue contacting the GTAA for prior permission by calling either 416-776-3480 or 800-267-SLOT (7568).

Beginning on March 28, 2017, the restrictions will become more stringent due to a rehabilitation project on Runway 05/23 that will take place between March 28 and May 16, and again between October 10 and November 3, 2017. During these dates, no slots will be available between 1500 and 1959 local. The GTAA does ask that, if a slot is going to be unused, the operator contact them to cancel that slot.

The only available exemptions to these restrictions will be for:
Heads of State
Military, Police
Sports Charters
