Meridian Proudly Participates in Holiday Gift Drive

Representatives from the Center of Hope and Safety, the Port Authority of NY & NJ, and tenants of Teterboro Airport stand proudly behind a display of the many donations received for this year’s annual gift drive.

With every holiday season comes the Center for Hope and Safety’s Annual Gift Drive. This year marked the 26th anniversary since the inception of this important event. Meridian, along with other Teterboro Airport-based tenants, gathered together to donate new toys, games, clothes, shoes, gift cards, and other gifts for those in need.

On Friday, December 13, Meridian drove a van filled with boxes containing a variety of donated gifts over to the AvPorts Administrative Building. The Center for Hope and Safety was very appreciative of the airport’s combined effort and commitment to the community. Meridian employees generously donated toys, food items, kitchen appliances, electronics, and apparel.

The Center for Hope and Safety’s mission is to assist women and children who are victims of domestic violence, including emotional, economic, sexual and physical abuse. The agency provides emergency and transitional housing, emotional support, and a diversified continuum of services focused on safety, empowerment, and self-sufficiency. Through community partnerships, the Center for Hope and Safety raises awareness, provides services, and educates community members about domestic violence.

Meridian is proud to participate in such an impactful campaign that delivers holiday cheer to local families. Together, we can all make a difference by continuing the tradition of helping these families by providing them with much-needed donations for a warm and loving holiday. Remember, the greatest gift of all is giving!

On Friday, December 18, 2015, Meridian colleagues Michelle Guerra and Joy Glassman exited the Meridian parking lot and drove down Industrial Avenue to the unadorned airport building identified only with a big number “1” on its side. Inside their car were three large boxes containing new toys, games, clothes, shoes, gift cards, and many other items which would have made Santa’s Elves jealous. These were the donations collected by Meridian employees for the Center for Hope and Safety. Caitlin Byrne, the shelter’s representative, was there to receive the donations and to thank the many company representatives from the airport community that had donated.

Ken Forester, Meridian CEO, is extremely proud of his staff. “To see so many wonderful gifts donated by our Meridian family to families in need is truly a humbling experience. We work hard everyday to make sure that our customers feel special, but it’s even more gratifying to see our folks go above and beyond to help those in our community who are less fortunate. The donations that have been collected for the Center of Hope and Safety will certainly brighten the holidays for a lot of kids who are facing some tough times. It’s truly important for us to give back during the holidays, and I think that our people have done a great job in rising to the occasion.”

Meridian Employees Rally to Support Shelter with Holiday Gift Drive

Shelter_Logo-Centered_2_1
For the past 20 years, the Teterboro Airport community has come together to deliver holiday cheer to local mothers and their children who are victims of domestic violence, including emotional, economic, sexual and physical abuses. Consequently, these families have fled from their dysfunctional environments and are receiving safety, strength & hope at the Center for Hope and Safety. Although the shelter’s name has changed from Shelter Our Sisters to the Center for Hope and Safety, their mission has remained the same. Donations are now being accepted to help those suffering from domestic violence to help make their holiday a little more special. Items being collected include toys, apparel, gift cards, appliances, recreational and entertainment gifts.
Meridian employees have always answered the call and given generously in past years. The donation drive has begun again for this holiday season, and Meridian colleagues will be able to participate by dropping off new, unwrapped gifts into collection boxes located throughout the FBO. When the donation drive is finished, the gifts will be collected and driven over to the main Airport Operations building at Teterboro Airport for pick-up by the Center for Hope and Safety.
Together, we can continue the tradition of helping these families by providing them with a warm and loving holiday for 2014. Please join us in donating new, unwrapped merchandise such as:
