Meridian Exhibits at EBACE2019

Meridian proudly exhibited at this year’s highly successful European Business Aviation Convention & Exhibition (EBACE2019) held May 21-23 at Geneva Airport and Palexpo Conference Center. The company sent six associates to Geneva representing Sales, Operations, and Marketing. This year’s show highlighted the innovation and investment driving the future of business aviation, including three electric vertical takeoff and landing concepts displayed at the EBACE Innovation Pavilion. Implementing them in congested cities would drastically cut down on traffic and emissions.
“The excitement and enthusiasm surrounding this year’s show has been palpable throughout the week,” said European Business Aviation Association (EBAA) Secretary General Athar Husain Khan. “EBACE2019 was characterized by new products, new business models, new investment opportunities and a new generation of aviation professionals determined to make their mark.”
“Business aviation continues changing right before our eyes, and here at EBACE, we have seen and touched the industry’s future,” said National Business Aviation Association (NBAA) President and CEO Ed Bolen. “We’re finishing EBACE inspired by a vision of sustainable flight, urban air mobility and other game-changing innovations.”
This year’s static display had a few more firsts this year: Bombardier’s Global 7500 and Embraer’s Praetor 600 aircraft made their post-certification debuts on the event’s tarmac. The convention itself spanned three halls and hosted over 400 exhibitors from over 80 different countries and students from the local area attended free of charge. A special “One Young World Summit” was available to young professionals and students to help with entry into the industry and to garner more interest in business aviation in general.
The static display at EBACE is conveniently located at GVA, adjacent to the Palexpo Conference Center.

This conference experienced many “firsts” and other elements that showcased the value of the event, and business aviation, as never before:

    1) The first-ever EBACE Innovation Pavilion showcased three different electric vertical takeoff and landing (eVTOL) aircraft and concepts, from FACC AG, MAEM and Pegasus. Next to this display, the Innovation Zone hosted a panel presentation on eVTOL and the urban air mobility revolution.
    2) Of the 58 aircraft on the sold-out outdoor display, 23 arrived powered by sustainable alternative jet fuel (SAJF), as part of the inaugural EBACE SAJF “fly-in”, a milestone in demonstrating the industry’s support for development and adoption of the fuel. The fly-in followed on the heels of an industry “Fuelling the Future” demonstration day, held 18 May at London TAG Farnborough Airport.
    3) The static display was also a location for other “firsts” among aircraft manufacturers: Bombardier’s Global 7500 made its post-certification debut at EBACE, and Embraer displayed the new Praetor 600 aircraft for the first time since being certified in Europe, the U.S. and Brazil.
    4) The show floor spanned three halls at Palexpo, featuring nearly 400 exhibitors, including 10 new to EBACE, which were prominently located in the show’s New Exhibitor Pavilion. The packed halls were continuously filled with attendees representing more than 80 countries.
    5) The EBACE Opening Keynote Session featured Volocopter CEO Florian Reuter, who described his company’s eVTOL air taxi as “the perfect complement and addition to business aviation,” as well as UK Member of Parliament Grant Shapps, who called business aviation “essential,” and predicted of EBACE: “We will be here in another decade’s time with this exhibition bigger and more important than ever.”
    6) EBACE2019 featured a number of new, well-attended Innovation Zone sessions, including an interactive “Shark Tank”-style presentation of future leaders’ proposals for encouraging corporate social and environmental responsibility.
    7) The show’s Careers in Business Aviation Day, now in its fourth year, drew strong attendance by students from area schools. EBACE also provided an opportunity for EBAA to announce the opening of nominations for the second delegation of students sponsored by the association to participate in the One Young World summit, an initiative that is part of EBAA’s Expanding Horizons campaign.

It seems to be more apparent than ever that business aviation is making leaps and bound to ensure that we are as prepared for the future as possible. EBACE2019 provided a clear look at the future of business aviation, making the show more important than ever. We’re eager to come together next year and see the next stage in all these advancements.”

Meridian proudly participated in the the 2017 European Business Aviation Convention & Exhibition (EBACE2017). The company sent five associates to the show to represent various departments, including Charter Sales, Charter Operations, Aircraft Management, FBO, and Marketing. The team was able to optimize its presence at the venue by meeting with customers and prospects, reconnecting with industry colleagues and friends, and identifying new opportunities.
Organizers said the show was one of the most successful in recent memory, reinforcing its reputation as the industry’s most important event in Europe. EBACE is jointly hosted by the National Business Aviation Association (NBAA) and the European Business Aviation Association (EBAA). This year’s show took place from May 22 to 24 at Geneva’s Palexpo conference center and Geneva International Airport.
“Anyone who spent the last week at EBACE can see the passion and professionalism that define this industry,” said EBAA CEO Brandon Mitchener. “This show was full of energy and excitement for the future, with amazing technology on display, in-depth policy discussions and more than a few deals closed.”
Mitchener joined EBAA as CEO in April 2017, and this year attended EBACE for the first time. “I’m thrilled to be a part of this industry at such a pivotal time,” he said. “Business aviation in Europe is growing, and this show featured several new business models that offer new opportunities to grow the market further.”
NBAA President and CEO Ed Bolen agreed, stating: “This show was an all-around success for attendees, exhibitors and the entire industry. This week once again highlighted the enduring value of EBACE, and of business aviation around the world. Clearly, ours remains a forward-looking industry, and we are confident EBACE will continue to be an important part of its future.”
Bolen and Mitchener pointed to several indicators illustrating the strength of this year’s EBACE:
– 56 aircraft were on display at Geneva International Airport, including a number of first-time visitors to the tarmac such as the Cessna Citation Longitude, Piper M600, Cirrus SF50 Vision Jet and Nextant G90XT
– 3 more aircraft were displayed inside the Palexpo exhibit hall
– 413 exhibitors from 40 countries displayed their technologies, products and services
– Attendance was estimated to be about 13,000 attendees; on par with previous years.
– Many of the exhibitors unveiled new products and services at EBACE2017
– More than 450 journalists from Europe and around the world covered the event
The week kicked off with an inspiring Opening General Session address by solar aviation pioneer, Dr. Bertrand Piccard. As the first pilot to fly around the world entirely on solar power – aboard the groundbreaking Solar Impulse aircraft – Piccard predicted innovation would lead aviation toward a more sustainable future.
Panels and education sessions held throughout the show covered timely and important issues, such as the implications of Brexit for business aviation, expanding opportunities for young professionals, security and top advocacy priorities across Europe. The EBACE2017 programming also included two well-attended day-long seminars – with expert analysis and advice for aircraft transactions and business aviation safety. The first EBACE Careers in Business Aviation Day introduced more than 250 high school and university students, from about 120 area schools across Europe, to the broad range of opportunities in the industry.
“This was an incredible show, from start to finish,” said Mitchener. “As EBACE draws to a close, I know that our industry faces real challenges and thrilling opportunities, and I am confident that business aviation in Europe will rise to the moment, and that our future is brighter than ever before.”
Next year, EBACE will return to Palexpo and Geneva International Airport on May 29-31, 2018.

Meridian Sends Team to EBACE

Meridian, the award-winning private aviation company based at Teterboro Airport, sent a full team of associates last week to Europe’s largest and most important business aviation trade show, European Business Aviation Convention & Exhibition (EBACE). EBACE is jointly hosted by the National Business Aviation Association (NBAA) and the European Business Aviation Association (EBAA). The event is held each year at Geneva’s Palexpo conference center and at Geneva International Airport. The 2014 show took place from May 20 to 22.

The Meridian Team represented many areas of the company, including Air Charter, Aircraft Management, FBO, Aircraft Maintenance and Marketing. Meridian was well-positioned with its central booth location, enabling the Team to better interact with longtime customers, industry colleagues, and to meet with new prospects who were introduced to our company for the first time. The Team handed out its iconic t-shirts, which helped spread the word of Meridian’s ability to directly handle incoming passengers from the US Customs facility at TEB.

“This year’s EBACE will be remembered as one of our strongest shows to date,” said EBAA CEO Fabio Gamba. “We are delighted with the level of business done, and with the excitement that characterized the event, not to mention all of the positive feedback we have received from exhibitors and attendees alike. Given the beautiful weather, the new single, contiguous exhibit floor layout and the enthusiasm among show participants, we have had a great EBACE2014.”

NBAA President and CEO Ed Bolen agreed, adding: “We are very pleased that all indicators were up this year, and that EBACE continues to demonstrate its value as a premier venue for companies in the industry to give aviation decision-makers a first-hand look at their products and services.”

Here are some highlights from this year’s show:

– The number of EBACE2014 exhibitors in Palexpo Halls 4, 5 and 6 increased by 8 percent over last year’s exhibitor count.
– The number of booth spaces sold for EBACE2014 grew by more than 4 percent over the number for EBACE2013, giving this year’s EBACE its largest footprint ever.
– This year’s aircraft display was once again completely sold out.
– The show proved again to be an effective news-making venue for providers of business aviation products and services. On the “Media Day,” before EBACE2014 opened, a host of press conferences were held, and several aircraft manufacturers unveiled new aircraft models during the show.
– At the time EBACE2014 closed, attendance at the show was up by more than 7 percent over that for EBACE2013.

Next year’s EBACE, which will mark the 15th edition of the event, will return to Palexpo and Geneva International Airport from May 19 to 21, 2015.
