The Meridian Team stands poised to make the most of the NBAA San Jose Regional.
On Thursday, September 6, Meridian sent eight associates, along with a 10′ x 10′ display to the NBAA San Jose Regional Forum, which hosted over 1,800 attendees, 176 exhibitors, and 15 static aircraft displays.
NBAA President and CEO, Ed Bolen spoke on his thoughts on the industry: “The future of business aviation looks bright, and technologies on the horizon make this an exciting time to be in the industry, but only if we meet challenges head-on and work together to make a difference.”
To further address the theme of the forum, author Jeff Butler presented data and case studies to help address issues that multi-generational companies may face, driving the theme of the forum home: making the business aviation industry more attractive to younger professionals and travelers.
Overall, the event was extremely positive. NBAA’s Vice President of Operational Excellence, Mike Nichols, stated that “The mood was extremely positive, there were a lot of buyers here and prospects that were new to the exhibitors.”
“People have been talking about how the business aviation market has greatly improved in the last couple of months, and they are appreciative of the opportunity to get business done here this week.”
Meridian used the forum as an opportunity to launch our CAA Campaign for our Hayward FBO. Carlos Rodriguez, Meridian HWD’s General Manager stated that “there really isn’t a better time or place to introduce this campaign. San Jose is a short drive from Hayward, and this is the audience we’re trying to reach.”
These events serve as a great barometer for the industry, and allow for everyone here to get a glimpse into where we’re headed in the future. We can’t wait to see what’s in store for BACE, next month!
The Meridian Team is ready to start the day at the NBAA Regional Forum in White Plains, NY.
On June 21, 2018, Meridian proudly exhibited at the National Business Aviation Association (NBAA) Regional Forum in White Plains, NY, held at the Westchester County Airport (HPN). In addition to hosting a 10′ x 10′ display stand, the company sent over 15 employees to meet and greet visitors. Kirk Stephen, Director of Marketing, said, “This Regional is the premier event for business aviation in the Northeast because it provides a great venue for vendors, customers, and prospects to come together under one roof and conduct business face-to-face. There are so many attendees at this show, that it really creates a unique networking opportunity for everyone here today. This is a must-attend event for us.”
NBAA President and CEO Ed Bolen stated “there is a pervasive sense of optimism in our industry.” According to NBAA, the event demonstrated a growing confidence of the industry, which was reflected in the forum’s numbers – 190 exhibitors, 2,700 attendees and a variety of aircraft, from single-engine piston-powered models to intercontinental business jets. “The energy and enthusiasm for business aviation was evident at this year’s White Plains Regional Forum,” said Mike Nichols, NBAA’s vice president of operational excellence and professional development. “Exhibitors conducted significant business, attendees gained valuable insights from the education session content, and the mood projected a positive outlook for the industry.”
The prior evening, Fontainebleau Aviation and Meridian co-sponsored a bus trip to Yankee Stadium for aviation colleagues who were in town attending the regional. On the bus, guests were all given judge wigs to show their support for Aaron Judge, the popular Yankee slugger, as New York took on the Seattle Mariners. The Yankees won the game with a walk-off home run in the bottom of the 9th inning for a dramatic ending to a fun evening.
Meridian is planning to exhibit at the next (and last) NBAA Regional Forum in 2018, which will be held on Thursday, September 6 at San Jose International Airport (SJC) in San Jose, CA. Meridian’s exhibit is ready to receive visitors!
Meridian was a proud exhibitor at the NBAA Regional Forum in Morristown, NJ. The event was held at Morristown Airport (MMU) on September 7, 2017.
Meridian, the award-winning private aviation company located in Teterboro, NJ (TEB) and Hayward, CA (HWD), proudly exhibited at its third and final National Business Aviation Association (NBAA) Regional Forum of the year. The highly anticipated Northeast Regional was held for the first time at Morristown Airport (MMU). The event drew 160 exhibitors, featured 37 aircraft and vehicles on static display, and attracted more than 2,500 attendees. Exhibitors were happy about the outstanding turnout and agreed that the forum was an all-around success.
Kirk Stephen, Director of Marketing, was very satisfied with the outcome of the event. “I was pleasantly surprised to see the number of exhibitors and attendees at the show today. I know that Hurricane Irma was severely impacting our aviation friends in Florida, but all things considered, I think the attendance had been quite robust.” Stephen credits NBAA for hosting a productive trade show. “The Regionals are very important to us because it gives our people the opportunity to connect with many of our customers in a local setting that the big shows can’t always provide. I know that our Charter, FBO, Management, and Maintenance teams were able to network with many of our longtime customers, while also meeting several new prospects. The value of these shows are immeasurable because of the face-to-face contact they provide.”
NBAA Regional Forums return in 2018 to the follow sites: West Palm Beach, FL on Jan. 24; White Plains, NY on June 21; and San Jose, CA on Sept. 6. In 2017, the next upcoming event is NBAA’s Business Aviation Convention and Exhibition in Las Vegas from October 10-12. This convention is considered the most important event of the year for business aviation. Meridian will be participating at this three-day trade show with a 20′ x 20′ island exhibit and a team of representatives from every department. Be sure to visit us at our booth located in the Central Hall (C10021). We look forward to seeing you there!

Meridian, the award-winning private aviation company with locations at TEB and HWD, is proud to have exhibited at the first NBAA Regional Forum of 2017 at Palm Beach International Airport (PBI) on Thursday, January 26. The company sent representatives from Charter Sales, Customer Service, and Marketing to meet and greet visitors at its booth. The Meridian team was happy to see many familiar faces while also meeting new people in the industry, many who were exhibiting or attending for the first time.
According to Kirk Stephen, Marketing Director, the NBAA Regional in West Palm Beach is an important event in which to exhibit. “South Florida is a huge market for us, so it makes perfect sense for us to be here. In addition, we are continuing to create awareness of our new and recently opened FBO located at Hayward Executive Airport in Hayward, CA. Anyone flying a business jet into the San Francisco Bay area should know they now have another option, Meridian Hayward. We hope our presence at West Palm Beach reinforces our commitment to our customers, vendors, and friends in the region who have given us so much support.”
It was an event featuring strong participation, a robust lineup of products, dozens of airplanes, and local policymakers on hand to recognize the industry’s value. The forum set a record for the venue, with more than 2,400 attendees, a sold-out floor with 145 exhibitors and a static display featuring 28 aircraft and six ground vehicles.
“As evidenced by the significant turn-out of attendees and exhibitors, Palm Beach continues to be one of the most important markets for business aviation,” noted Mike Nichols, CAM, NBAA vice president, operational excellence and professional development. “The mood was positive, and a lot of business connections were made at this event.”
The timing and location for the forum were also important, given that the business aviation community learned last week of the Temporary Flight Restrictions (TFRs) now scheduled to take effect when President Donald Trump is at his Mar-a-Lago residence, located 2.1 nautical miles from PBI. NBAA added a special pop-up education session to discuss the changes operators could expect.
The forum also served as a kick-off of for NBAA’s 70th anniversary, and association President and CEO Ed Bolen said the milestone was a time to reflect on the past and look toward the future. In the past year, the industry has lost aviation leaders such as Arnold Palmer, Bob Hoover, Gene Cernan and John Glenn, reminds reminder “that a torch is being passed, and we have an opportunity to carry on their legacy by getting involved,” Bolen said.
The forum also played host to Jerry Allen, Palm Beach International Airport; Jeff Ramsden, South Florida Business Aviation Association and Shawn Rowan, Business Development Board of Palm Beach County. Additionally, Palm Beach County Mayor Paulette Burdick, who came by to lend her support to the industry. “As a county we are committed to the industry,” she said. “It’s an important part of our economy.”
And, as always, the forum provided an invaluable opportunity for companies to meet current customers and connect with new ones, as well as network with industry peers. “It’s very important for us to get face time with all of our clients,” said Ivette Pla, director, Jetex. “There are always new customers coming into the market, so this is a good way to tap into those clients.”
Meridian is planning to exhibit at the next NBAA Regional Forum, which is scheduled for Thursday, March 23 at Fort Worth Meacham Airport (FTW) in Texas.

Meridian, the award-winning private aviation company based at Teterboro Airport, proudly participated in the final National Business Aviation Association (NBAA) Regional Forum of 2015. The show was held at St. Louis Downtown Airport (CPS) in St. Louis, MO. The one-day event was held on Thursday, September 17, and drew more than 1,200 attendees. The forum, held for the first time at that venue, hosted 130 exhibitors and 25 aircraft on static display, and closed out a year that also featured the popular local events in West Palm Beach, FL, and Teterboro, NJ. Meridian sent three representatives, including Mike Moore, VP of Aviation Sales, Anthony Banome, Director of Fuel Sales, and Nora Jacob, Customer Service Representative.
When the opening session concluded, and the forum got underway, exhibitors and attendees alike appreciated the forum’s value as a focused, one-day event. Leaders with local agencies and airport businesses illustrated the importance of the St. Louis-area event in highlighting the value of business aviation, and in supporting people and companies in the industry located in the area.
Peter Sadlo, president of the Greater St. Louis Business Aviation Association, said it is important to make sure young people can experience first-hand the possibilities that exist in the business aviation industry, and NBAA’s Regional Forums provide a great venue for that. “If we don’t get the next generation in at some point, it doesn’t work,” he said. “We need to share our network and get them involved.”
As with all NBAA events, elements of the No Plane No Gain advocacy campaign were on display throughout the forum, with signage highlighting CEOs with well-known companies from across the country, each providing testimonials to the value of business aviation to their organizations. The No Plane No Gain program, jointly sponsored by NBAA and the General Aviation Manufacturers Association, educates policymakers and opinion leaders about the essential role of business aviation in the nation’s economy and transportation system.
NBAA’s St. Louis Regional Forum also included several education sessions, held throughout the day. Michelle Wade, of Jackson & Wade, discussed building successful aircraft and operating structures, while Mark Francetic, from Duncan Aviation, talked about how to prepare for NextGen and future equipment mandates, such as those for aircraft Automatic Dependent Surveillance-Broadcast (ADS-B) systems. The forum closed with a talk by Travis Kuhn, from Aviation Research Group-US, who’s presentation focused on helping attendees make sense of the myriad business aviation flight activity and forecast data that is increasingly available to operators.
NBAA will continue its Regional Forums in 2016, with venues to be announced in the near future. NBAA will be hosting its annual Business Aviation Convention & Exhibition (NBAA2015) in Las Vegas, NV, from November 17-19, 2015. Meridian will be exhibiting at the show in the North Hall of the Las Vegas Convention Center at booth #N4925.

Meridian, the award-winning private aviation company based at Teterboro Airport (TEB) in Teterboro, NJ proudly participated as an exhibitor at the NBAA Regional Forum held in Dallas, TX on Thursday, September 18, 2014. There were five Meridian associates at the show to represent all aspects of our diverse business services and offerings. The one-day trade show was hosted by Business Jet Center located at Dallas Love Field (DAL), which drew more than 1,600 attendees, featured more than 100 exhibitors and nearly 20 business aircraft on static display.
“General aviation is and will be the future. Business aviation and commercial aviation have a direct impact on jobs and the economy,” said Dallas Director of Aviation Mark Duebner to an audience of prospective business aircraft owners, operators, manufacturers and customers. NBAA’s President and CEO Ed Bolen conveyed to attendees the strong sense of enthusiasm and optimism surrounding the business aviation industry. “Fuel sales are up, aircraft transactions are taking place and the economy is strengthening,” Bolen said. “This industry has a remarkable commitment to finding ways to not only survive, but to also thrive.”
NBAA Business Aviation Regional Forums bring current and prospective business aircraft owners, operators, manufacturers, customers and other industry personnel together for a one-day event at some of the best airports and FBOs in the nation. Regional forums incorporate exhibits, static displays of aircraft and education sessions into one-day events located across the country to help introduce business aviation to local officials and prospective owners and operators, and to help address the issues of the day in the regions.
In less than one month, NBAA will be hosting its annual Business Aviation Convention & Exhibition (NBAA2014) at the Orange County Convention Center in Orlando, FL. It is the world’s largest and most important business aviation event. Ranked as the fourth largest tradeshow in the U.S., NBAA2014 will feature over 1,000 exhibitors, nearly 100 side-by-side business aircraft at the static display, over 25,000 business aviation professionals and dozens of education sessions.
Meridian is pleased to announce that we will be featuring a brand new exhibit at this show, so please be sure to stop by our booth and say hello. We will be located at Booth #1878.

Meridian, the award-winning private aviation company based at Teterboro Airport (TEB), proudly exhibited at the NBAA Regional Forum in Boca Raton, FL, on Thursday, January 30, 2014. The company sent a small delegation to exhibit in the strategically important region. Kirk Stephen, Marketing Manager, says, “South Florida is a big market for both our FBO and Charter businesses, and it’s important for us to be represented here and to be in front of our customers.” NBAA’s first Business Aviation Regional Forum of 2014, a show dedicated to highlighting the legislative and regulatory issues for the year ahead, attracted more than 1,400 people to Boca Raton Airport (BCT).
The No Plane No Gain message was front and center at the Boca forum with Ed Bolen, NBAA President and CEO, delivering an inside look into the Association’s advocacy work in Washington, DC and across the country. “The real question is whether the federal government will help or hurt our industry this year,” said Bolen, noting that while federal budget standoffs may have been disruptive in 2013, ongoing advocacy efforts have achieved several long-sought successes in recent years – as just three examples, he noted that Congress passed an FAA reauthorization bill in 2012, directed the FAA to resume allowing operators to “opt out” of public flight tracking, and opposed unilateral imposition of the EU-ETS.
All the speakers stood by a banner featuring the faces of the No Plane No Gain campaign’s “Top Ten” initiative, which highlights 10 great CEOs from 10 great companies, each of whom has a great reason for using business aviation. “NBAA is working everyday on Capitol Hill and in federal agencies to represent the needs and interests of business aviation,” said Bolen. “The success of our advocacy efforts, however, depends on the active engagement of our Members – real people working in the industry. That’s why it’s so important for us to connect with Members at events like the Boca Forum.”
In addition to Bolen’s advocacy message, industry experts presented in-depth information on cabin connectivity, advances in aviation safety, aircraft valuations and the FileSmart initiative for filing flight plans early and accurately.
“We had very strong local involvement,” said NBAA Southeast Regional Representative Harry Houckes, who opened the sold-out Jan. 30 program. “Many of our Members, and many of the local regional groups, were exhibiting or in attendance.” Houckes opened the forum alongside Janet Sherr, deputy executive director of BCT and Geoff Heck, senior vice president of the host FBO, Signature Flight Support. Houckes, who is retiring this month, was presented with the Association’s Silk Scarf Award for his 12 years of advocacy work in the Southeast.
The Boca Raton forum also featured 89 exhibitors and 19 aircraft on static display, including a Gulfstream G200 and Falcon 7X, reported NBAA Vice President, Conventions and Forums Administrative Affairs Cheryl Padilla. “The event definitely exceeded our expectations,” she said. “I talked to many of the exhibitors, and they said it was a great show for them. A lot of them have already made plans to exhibit at our other forums this year.”
NBAA’s next Business Aviation Regional Forum is set for June 26 in Van Nuys, CA, followed by a Sept. 18 forum in Dallas, TX. Meridian will also be exhibiting at both of these forums.

On Thursday, September 12, 2013, NBAA held its Chicago/Waukegan Regional Forum at Waukegan Regional Airport (UGN), located about one hour north of Chicago. Meridian made a strong showing at the event with a team of five to represent the company at the exhibit booth. Meridian gave away its signature t-shirts in the colors of the Chicago Bears to guests who stopped by the booth. The company also held a raffle for a free weekend rental of a Harley-Davidson motorcycle and gift bag, compliments of Woodstock Harley-Davidson. Congratulations to the winner, Jay Doig, Assistant General Manager at B. Coleman Aviation in Gary, IN.
As NBAA states on its website, the value of business aviation in supporting jobs, economic activity and local investment in the Chicagoland area was highlighted by the strong turnout and high level of enthusiasm among attendees and exhibitors. The event was held in the Landmark Aviation hangar at UGN, which featured more than 80 exhibitors, 14 aircraft on static display and more than 1,000 attendees from the business aviation community.
Mayor Wayne Motley of Waukegan, who spoke at the event’s opening session, underscored his support for business aviation, and pointed out the direct benefit the industry’s presence has for all citizens in the local area. “This airport community is a gateway to our local community,” the mayor declared. He was joined in addressing forum attendees by Waukegan Port District Chairman Jorge Torres.
The two local officials and the opening session Attendees heard from Dick Doubrava, NBAA’s director of legislative affairs, who provided a report about the Association’s ongoing work to represent their interests in Washington.
In his remarks, Doubrava told the audience that much progress had been made in recent years to promote and grow the House and Senate General Aviation (GA) Caucuses, which are bipartisan groups of congressional lawmakers who bring their support for GA to debates about policy proposals affecting the industry. “Only four years ago, there were no congressional GA caucuses,” Doubrava noted. “Today, we have over 200 caucus members, including one-third of the Senate.”
Doubrava added that NBAA and other GA organizations have continually worked to inform the caucus members about the value of all GA segments, including business aviation, but that NBAA’s work could only be most effective if the people with the Association’s Member Companies directly advocated about the industry’s priorities with elected officials. “You are our best advocates,” Doubrava told those at the event.
At scheduled education sessions, attendees also learned about developing safety management systems, a new “FileSmart” educational initiative to encourage companies to file early and accurate flight plans and various congressional policies of importance to the industry, including the “Pilots’ Bill of Rights,” passed by Congress last year.
The Waukegan event marked NBAA’s final Regional Forum for 2013. The association’s 2014 forums will be held at airports in Florida, California and Texas.

On Thursday, July 11, 2013, NBAA held its Denver Regional Forum at Centennial Airport (APA). Meridian, which has an aircraft based at Centennial, made a strong showing at the event last week with a team of seven to represent the company at both the exhibit booth and static display. Starting on Wednesday, July 10, Meridian introduced its newest Aviation Sales Executive, Todd Schieck, at the Colorado Business Aviation Association (CABA) Golf Tournament held at the Inverness Hotel & Golf Club. Meridian sponsored Hole 9 at the CABA event, where Mr. Schieck and fellow colleague Anthony Banome greeted golfers and offered refreshments.
The following day, Meridian participated in the NBAA Regional Forum with an exhibition booth and an aircraft on the static display. The 13-seat business jet, a Falcon 900EX EASy, is a long range aircraft that has been beautifully refurbished and equipped with Wi-Fi. Dennis O’Connell, Meridian Air Charter President, had this to say, “The Denver market is an important and growing region for business aviation because of its leadership in the new energy economy. Meridian’s strong presence here was designed to raise awareness of our aircraft based at APA, and to announce that we now have charter sales representation based locally. We want the world to know that we are open for business in Denver.”
The forum was a success with a total of 974 attendees and 73 exhibitors. The full agenda included an update by NBAA President and CEO Ed Bolen, presentations on topics including the business aircraft purchase and sale process; aircraft ownership and operations; the new FileSmart educational initiative and information on preserving FAA medical certification. Also on site was a static display of 14 aircraft, including Meridian’s Falcon 900EX EASy. The evening before the event, the Colorado Aviation Business Association held a series of mentoring sessions with high school students, and Jeppesen sponsored a reception that included tours of its training facility. Meridian will be attending the next NBAA Business Aviation Regional Forum, which will be held on September 12 at Waukegan Regional Airport (UGN), near Chicago, IL.
