Meridian Hosts Apollo Jets in Softball

Softball teams from Apollo Jets and Meridian gathered to play this week to continue their friendly rivalry at Kennedy Park in Lodi, NJ.
Softball teams from Apollo Jets and Meridian gathered to play this week to continue their friendly rivalry at Kennedy Park in Lodi, NJ.

Teterboro, NJ – On a balmy evening in late May, as the sun was setting over the New York City skyline, two rival teams met once again to see which would prevail in a competitive game of softball on the manicured fields of Kennedy Park in Lodi, NJ.

Making the commute from the Apollo Jets office in New York City, the experienced Apollo team was well-represented wearing their traditional black shirts. Unfortunately, the long commute for Apollo did not end with victory, as the Meridian Team, led by Captain Andrew Ladouceur, had heavier bats in the late innings to pull ahead to win the game.

All was not lost for Apollo, however, as Cyrus Rasnavad belted a fence-clearing homer and pitcher Ari Rothbeind stymied Meridian bats for much of the game. Game MVP was awarded to Andrea Politis, for her outstanding defensive work on the infield. Andrea is a Customer Service Representative at Meridian Teterboro, the company’s FBO.

Stay tuned for more information on the next Meridian softball game. Fans are always welcome!

Meridian Plays Rival Apollo Jets in Annual Softball Game

The 2012 Meridian Softball Team

Teterboro, NJ, August 23, 2012 – After being delayed for several weeks due to bad weather, the big game between Meridian Air Charter and Apollo Jets finally took place yesterday on a dampened, yet playable, Tucci Field next to Teterboro Airport. About 25 softball players between both teams gathered together to play a friendly rivalry game that last year ended with a convincing Apollo victory. This year’s game ended with the opposite result, a decisive Meridian win, with a final score of 21-12. After the game ended, both teams converged on the Grasshopper, a local restaurant and bar, to enjoy some food and drinks, while strategizing for next year’s big game.

A Home Run Celebration

On Wednesday, July 11, 2012, the Meridian softball team took the field on Redneck Road in Moonachie to play their friendly Teterboro-based rival, FlightSafety. The seven-inning game lasted about 1.5 hours during a warm summer evening, and resulted in the first Meridian victory of the season with a final score of 13-2. Team Photographer, Dennis O’Connell, was on-hand to shoot photos of the action, some of which are shown above.

The next Meridian softball game will be on Wednesday, July 18 at Tucci Field against powerful rival Apollo Jets. Andrew Ladouceur, Team Captain, had this to say, “Playing against our good friends at Apollo gives us all a chance to see each other in a different environment. The competition is stiff, but we always have a great time when our two groups get together.”
