Meridian Rallys to Support Thanksgiving Food Drive

Meridian Cares, the company’s Social Corporate Responsibility Committee, stands behind donations by staff members from all departments. In total, there were 12 full boxes of food donations for Eva’s Village.

Today representatives from Eva’s Village, located in Paterson, NJ, will be picking up 12 boxes of food items and gift cards donated by Meridian employees as part of their annual Thanksgiving Food Drive. Eva’s Village provides recovery and support services to the local community by helping thousands of men, women, and children each year by addressing basic needs of food and shelter, as well as complex issues around addiction, mental illness, and chronic homelessness. Meridian is proud to support this organization, especially during the Thanksgiving season, and we would like to thank our staff members who generously contributed to this very worthy cause.

Meridian Supports “Eva’s Village” Food Drive

Meridian conducted our annual Thanksgiving Food Drive in support of Eva’s Village, an organization dedicated to helping feed the hungry, by donating non-perishable food items brought in by employees.
This year, we filled 12 sack-loads with Mac and Cheese, Soups, Gravies, Stuffing, and an assortment of other goods for the non-profit organization!
Eva‘s Village opened its doors in Paterson New Jersey in 1982. They offer hot meals for up to 400 homeless and working poor per day, 365 days a year. Aside from these lunches, they serve breakfast and dinner to those staying in their outpatient recovery and sheltering programs. Their kitchen can produce up to 1,200 hot meals per day with over 438,000 hot meals served every year.
Aside from their kitchen and shelter, Eva’s Kitchen also runs an outpatient treatment program for those who are suffering from addiction, as well as job placement services. It’s an all-encompassing center to help people find their way back to a normal life.
Although the food drive has ended, you can still help Eva’s Village. If you would like to learn how, please visit their website at www.evasvillage.org.

Meridian Celebrates Thanksgiving the Healthy Way

Teterboro, NJ – On Monday, November 21, 2011, twenty-two Meridian employees gathered together to share in a healthy, portion-controlled Thanksgiving lunch.  A Thanksgiving dinner was also prepared for evening shift employees.  Each employee contributed to the meal by either preparing a special dish at home or by bringing in items that were served as part of the holiday occasion.  Food items were specifically chosen to be healthy in nature as part of a new wellness initiative begun in October.
Cooks for the meal were the following:  Turkey and Wild Rice Stuffing – Betsy,  Sweet Potatoes – Patti and Susan, Roasted Root Veggies – Amber,  Whole Pasta w/ Marinara sauce – John and Joe,  Turkey Chili – Dennis.   Bringing in prepared foods were as follows:  Fresh Fruit – Aida and Ofelia,  Angel Fruit Cake with Strawberries – Michelle and Lisa, Frozen Veggies – Kirk, Jamie and Stalin.   Beverages were provided by Vicki, Saqiba and Don.
No one left hungry and the remainder of the food was shared with the rest of the Meridian staff.

Lunch is served!
